Partnership
Partnerships for Delivery (P4D) improves the quality of food systems interventions by injecting powerful and proven technologies that will raise the productivity of African agriculture. In many cases, it partners with other CGIAR Centers to demonstrate proven technologies. Its Primary Scaling Partners are national governments that develop country agricultural investment programs that include technology dissemination activities. Its Secondary Scaling Partners are private companies that are ready to finance their own production and sales of these new technologies but seek assistance in product refinement and rollout. In this way, P4D serves as a clearinghouse that strengthens the relationship between CGIAR Centers and agricultural projects funded through sovereign loan programs.
Through partnership with development organizations, P4D assists in the design of potent country programs, and inserts some proven pilot activities within them. It advises on which technologies and management systems hold greatest promise, and how best to communicate their advantages to different types of stakeholders. It participates in and helps organize and interpret assessment activities that allow for iterative adjustment of program activities and communicates these outcomes to the larger developmental research community. P4D’s unique role represents a major institutional responsibility within IITA. It operates through the following Departments and Offices.
